Top 10 Places to Visit
It’s never too late to start living life more courageously, more creatively, and more authentically. Live life like it’s your last and you may learn to love the world you were blessed to live in. We are constantly stuck in a routine and it’s time we learn to appreciate what the world has to offer. Let’s dive right in to my Top 10 Places to Visit.
Antarctica
Antarctica is the last great untouched wilderness, an entire continent of stunning and alien beauty with a rich history of adventure and exploration. Most visitors arrive by ship, usually on icebreakers or vessels with reinforced hulls. Inflatable dinghies with outboard motors are the best way to explore the islands and mainland. Adventure is the very nature of an Antarctic vacation.
The vast emptiness of the southernmost continent cannot be exaggerated. When you travel to Antarctica, it's just you, your shipmates, the scientists and long-term travelers you meet in some settlements along the way. Antarctica is home to many creatures found nowhere else on the planet.
Enjoy the gentler Crabeater Seals basking in the relatively warm summer sun on floating sea ice, or observe the flatulent Southern Elephant Seal, the largest seal in the world and perhaps the smelliest. Antarctica is unique in so many ways, but perhaps the most extraordinary is its peacefulness. Take time out from the screech of penguins squabbling or the bark of fur seals, and walk inland where you can sit quietly in this vast wilderness of ice.
Iceland
The world is too big to stay in one place and life is too short to do just one thing. Embrace all the endless possibilities life has to offer. Uncertainty should be embraced and learning to adapt is the best way to learn.
Iceland is a place of surreal beauty. The incredible landscape of the island is staggering. Most of the country is an uninhabited moonscape of craters, bright green moss, towering glaciers, volcanoes, hot springs, and fields of lava rock. Seeing the Northern Lights has always been a childhood dream of mine. There’s something special about seeing such a spectacular show that is 100% natural.
One of Iceland’s biggest tourist attractions is the Blue Lagoon, and rightly so. This geothermal spa is filled with mineral enriched water that exfoliates the skin.
Spain
Spain really does have it all, from incredible landscapes and beaches, to world-famous cuisine and a rich history – not to mention fantastic museums and striking architecture.
Spain may be renowned for its beaches and sunny climates but it is a country of diverse landscapes. Its mountains are majestic, from the northern Pyrenees and the Picos de Europa to the Sierra Nevada in the south, it is the home to Europe’s most southerly ski resort such as the Mount Teide volcano on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
Some of the world’s most famous painters hail from Spain, from Francisco de Goya to Pablo Picasso. You can discover the work of Spain’s most lauded artists in the country’s world-famous art galleries, from Madrid’s Prado and Reina Sofia to Bilbao’s modernist Guggenheim and Barcelona’s Picasso Museum.
Myanmar
Myanmar is unlike anywhere else in Southeast Asia or the world rather. Myanmar consistently ranks as one of the friendliest countries in the world. The people never seem to stop smiling and, although English is not commonly spoken, the Myanmar people will go out of their way to help foreigners.
Although Myanmar is increasingly modernizing, the people still hold tight to their traditional ways of life. Even in the big cities, men and women can be seen wearing longyis which are known to be traditional skirts and thanaka which is a yellow paste-like cosmetic.
The culture of Myanmar is heavily based on the ancient pagan kingdom and Buddhist beliefs. Combined with more than a hundred ethnic groups who live in the country, you will get a unique cocktail of traditions which makes Myanmar a very special travel destination.
Tanzania
Africa is such a diverse and interesting continent, and one that is packed full of wonderful countries to explore. So many, in fact, it can be hard to pick just one. When it comes to African adventures, however, it’s kind of difficult to go wrong with Tanzania. It is a country of natural splendor, astounding wildlife, seductive beaches, charming ancient towns, archaeological sites and geological wonders.
I have to admit, there are a lot of things people love about Tanzania, and the food is one of the best. Everything comes straight from the fields and farms to the your plate, with fresh potatoes, bananas, avocados as big as melons, and fresh caught fish and meats. The great thing about the cuisine in Tanzania is the fact that it combines traditional African food with an Indian and Arabic influence.
Peru
Peru… a breathtaking and diverse country in Midwest South America. The country is most popular for the old ruins of Machu Picchu that date back all the way to the Inca Empire.
Known for its culinary quality, you have the chance to taste delicious Peruvian food, such as lomo saltado, aji de gallina, and ceviche. Machu Picchu is one of the most breathtaking places I have been to and not only is it magnificent and enchanting, but a large part of the trip is the trail that leads to it. This trail is challenging but provides you with beautiful views and fun obstacles such as rivers or waterfalls. The high level of hiking makes you appreciate and enjoy the final point of Machu Picchu even more!
Chile
Beautiful Chile is a destination of prized contrasts with dramatic landscapes that vary from the starkness of the Atacama Desert in the north, the world’s driest desert, and the Patagonian ice fields in the south to fertile valleys, forests as old as time, temperamental volcanoes and unspoiled beaches.
Chile is a country I would definitely recommend to visit as there is so many beautiful places that are just eye catching, making the experience, one in a million. With its gigantic creaking glaciers, majestic snow-capped peaks, crystalline blue lakes and sweeping lush forested valleys, Chile is the home of Patagonia: one of our planet’s most pristine wilderness regions. Anyone touring Chile with even a passing interest in the great outdoors has a duty to pay her a visit.
The best way to enjoy such beauty at its rawest is to hire a tent, put on some comfortable shoes and set off on one of its many amazing hiking trails.
Cuba
A trip to Cuba is unlike any other. Cuba is a really unique country that will leave you wander-lusting for more. Whether it’s the incredible scenery, the friendly people, or the vibrant culture, Cuba is sure to steal your heart just as it has stolen mine.
Cuba has a number of local casas particulares, which provides an authentic Cuban experience. Casas particulares are old mansions transformed into guest houses where foreigners can stay. There is so much to experience in Cuba that you really need to venture out and explore! Even if that means going out on a tour, the most important thing is that you are able to get out and about and experience everything that makes the country so special.
Walking the streets of Cuba is stunning and interesting in itself simply because of the incredible architecture and historical buildings. Old hotels in Parque Central in Havana date back hundreds of years! Everywhere you look there is history on the walls and this makes Havana world famous.
New Zealand
New Zealand is not some faraway dreamland that should stay in travelers’ imaginations. It’s very easy to get to, and the journey across the Pacific will reward you with plenty of incredible attractions and local treasures.
The country is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world. With its snow-capped mountains, ancient glaciers, rolling hills, and copious amounts of wine; it’s a destination unlike all others. While it has seen a boom in tourism in recent years, New Zealand is still the beautiful and unspoiled country it is when I had visited three years ago.
New Zealand gives you an experience of a lifetime, and I am truly grateful that I had a chance to go to this heart capturing country and witness the beautiful tourist spots it had to offer.
Australia
Boasting stunning beaches, iconic architecture, remarkable wildlife and a compelling history, Australia captures the wandering hearts of many especially mine—and holds on tight.
No trip to Australia is complete without a stop in what many agree is one of the most beautiful cities in the world: Sydney. The city is a one-of-a-kind metropolis and sits on a harbor of epic proportions, with waterways that wind into hidden coves and lap at picturesque sand beaches. Australia is one of the most remote countries in the world and, ironically, one of the most popular places to visit. Going to this country, has got to be one of my favorite trips. I highly recommend going to visit Australia and seeing itsbeauty for yourself.
